Five people have been shot in separate incidents in Bawku leaving two dead and three others in critical condition.
Two people were confirmed dead in the recent shooting in Bawku in the upper east region following renewed volatile security situation in the community.
Three others are in critical condition. Speaking to Ligidigang news, Hamza Amadu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said" we are yet to know those who carried out these shootings and that is why the police are in the full investigation to unravel the people behind this incident. I don't think this is an act of terrorism, it is definitely part of the conflict. Currently, two people are arrested following the shooting incident that happened on the 10th January 2022", Amadu stated.
New Policy
Meanwhile, in a statement dated 10th January, the upper east regional security council(REGSEC) said it has banned two men in one motorcycle.
The new directive said men are banned from carrying their fellow men in a motorbike in the conflict zones.
REGSEC added that the new directive has been enforced after a critical examination of the security situation in Bawku.
The security council recommended an increased presence of security agencies in the Bawku township especially areas like the Goil and Total filling station.
Currently, the government through the ministry of interior has placed a curfew in Bawku and its environments.
